Deby Dixon Bio / Artist's Statement:   In September of 2011 I began the journey of my dreams - pulling a 17' travel trailer around the American West. My hope is to visit as many national parks as possible and to have the opportunity to stay in each one long enough to capture the essence - in photographs and words.

Travel got off to a rocky start, considering that it was my first experience with a trailer and that my Komfort is a 1979 that needs a lot of work. Learning as I go along and taking time to breathe. One can not plan their experience, they can only live them to the best of their ability - and hopefully talk about them later.

When making the decision to do this journey it was my desire to not live with any more regrets than what I have that pushed me forward. And so I follow my heart...

I am a passionate nature photographer that loves to travel and tell a story with words and images. I see the world in light, shapes and colors, my memories are visual and always, there is a Nikon camera close by.

Being in the wilderness, alone with the sounds of the wind and rushing water, watching a shadow fall onto the landscape and looking up to see a bird overhead. Or, sitting on a rock, several feet from a wild animal, taking photos, watching and learning. To see dark storm clouds open to a spray of light that bounces off of wet surfaces...to capture the world, exactly as it is at any given moment and document history, those are my passions.

I hike up steep mountains, get lost on windy dirt roads, forget to eat or go home - I get lost and found in the natural world. I love wildlife and landscapes and am often privileged to capture people enjoying themselves in the outdoor world.

Life is precious and fleeting and I live mine to the fullest. One can not be sad if they are determined to be happy.
